Vedic Astrology Readings

Vedic Astrology (Jyotish) originated in India.  The word Jyotish in Sanskrit , means “science of light,” and refers to the mathematically sophisticated form of astrology originating from the ancient Vedic traditions. Often referred to as Vedic astrology, Jyotish describes the planetary patterns at the time of our birth and can give us valuable clues to understanding our life’s journey. Through careful analysis of these cosmic influences, Jyotish can help us to evaluate our strengths and challenges to best optimize our potential. By forecasting the changing trends and periods of our lives, Jyotish can also help us with our choices.

How is Vedic Astrology different from Western Astrology?  The biggest difference between the two systems has to do with how the zodiac is looked at. Western astrology is based on the seasons/movement of the sun - called the Tropical Zodiac. Whereas the Vedic system uses a zodiac based on the actual constellations in the sky – called the Sidereal Zodiac. There was a time when those two were in alignment, a couple thousand years ago.  However, currently they are almost one complete zodiac sign out of alignment. Meaning, if you are a Virgo in Western astrology (Sun sign Virgo), it is very possible that the sun was actually in the constellation of Leo when you were born.  Western Astrology uses the outer planets, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto, whereas Vedic Astrology does not.
